The Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University (PMU)-National Academy of Inventors International Patent Award honors distinguished scientists, institutions, and universities across the globe whose inventions have been patented through the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and demonstrate potential societal benefit.
Through its focus on patents, the award uniquely recognizes not just the incredible work of innovators, but their forethought to protect their intellectual property and prepare their transformative technologies for the market, where they can have a wider impact.
This prestigious award launched in 2024 in partnership with NAI Sustaining Member Institution Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University (PMU), who is committed to transformative societal impact through sustainable innovation in education, research, and creativity. In 2025, the award became part of the larger Prince Mohammed Bin Fahd Global Award prize pool, created to honor the humanitarian and intellectual legacy of PMU’s founder, Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd Bin Abdulaziz.
The PMU-NAI International Patent Award will feature 5 prize categories:
- Technological
- Medical
- Environmental
- Smart Community Solutions
- Socially Impactful Innovations
An award prize of $50,000 will be presented to an innovator in each category for a total of $250,000 in combined prize funds. The award is open to all NAI Members, worldwide, who meet the criteria. The Award prize will assist in funding the commercialization of the innovator’s patented technology.
Nominations will open in 2026. Award recipients will be honored in an award ceremony at NAI’s 15th Annual Conference taking place in Los Angeles, California, June 1-4, 2026.

Criteria
- The innovative idea must have received a patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office within the past 5 years
