When and where will the annual meeting take place this year?

October 31-November 3, 2021 in Tampa, FL

 

Will there be a senior member and Fellow induction ceremony?

Yes, the Senior Member induction ceremony will take place Monday evening on November 1, 2021, at the JW Marriott Water Street in Tampa, FL. We will honor the classes from August 2019, 2020, and 2021.
 
The Fellows Induction Ceremony will take place Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at the JW Marriott Water Street in Tampa, FL. The U.S. Commissioner for Patents and President of NAI will induct Fellows from 2019, and 2020.

 

Will the meeting be virtual or in-person?

The meeting will take place in-person, although select events will have alternate ways of participating. Some sessions of the meeting will be recorded and available for future watch on demand. At this time, only the ceremonies will be live-streamed.
 
The hotel and gala venue have safety measures in place to protect its guests. The NAI will also do its best to ensure a safe and secure environment for its members attending the meeting. There will be plenty of hand sanitizer and social distancing efforts in place.

What is the dress code for the annual meeting?

The dress code for the conference is business casual. The Signature Gala is formal attire (black-tie is optional), so dust off those suits and dresses, as it will surely be a night to remember.

 

Can I bring my friends and family?

Absolutely! All guests can register for the events that they would like to attend here.

 

How can individuals and organizations deepen their involvement during the meeting or showcase their programs or organizations?

We would be thrilled to work with our forward-thinking partners to plan their event participation in the most meaningful way.

Are there any speaking opportunities?

Yes, we ask that you send us an abstract of the presentation. The theme this year is Look Back, Think Forward, and ask that your abstract address any of the following topic areas:

  • Addressing Barriers and Gaps of Underrepresented Groups in the Innovation and Invention Ecosystem
  • The Inventor Story: Lessons Learned and Advice for Future Innovators | From Financing Your Discoveries to Taking Your Inventions to Market
  • The Future of Innovation: Industry Trends, Culture Shifts, Globalization, and Policy

 

What is NAI’s Policy on cancellations and payments?
At the time you register, your full payment will be processed. Some registrations may be subject to approval.
You may cancel at any time without penalty before August 31st, 2021. You will receive a full refund minus the service and processing fees.
NO refunds for any reason or cancellations starting September 1st, 2021. Tickets can be transferred to another attendee in your place.

 

What if the 2021 conference in Tampa is postponed due to Covid?
If the conference must be postponed due to health and/or travel concerns/restrictions, attendees will be allowed to apply the amount already paid towards the subsequent meeting.

 

What is the latest I can cancel my hotel room?
As per JW Marriot Water Street policy hotel reservations can be canceled 72 hours prior to the arrival date.

 

What if I cannot attend the 2021 Annual Meeting and have to cancel.

Will I have to wear a mask during the conference?
NAI will adhere to the CDC guidelines at the time of the annual meeting as well as State and Local Mandates and Marriott International’s Policies.

 

Will I have to have a negative test prior to traveling?
NAI will adhere to the CDC Guidelines as well as Florida State Guidelines at the time of the annual meeting based on travel restrictions regarding testing and vaccine requirements.
